The cheap ones dont tend to be very good, the image is grainy, dark and often the software doesnt run too well, I have tried many types and makes. The one I use now is excellent, a Trust WB3500T, it has good software, manual focus, the picture is very sharp and it has its own mini light on the cam which helps with lighting. I bought it at Asda for about £18 which was a good deal, so I would suggest shopping around and paying a bit more as the product may be better, I use a lot of Trust parts and find them to be an excellent company, website below is for trust.
Hope this helps
Andy

I spent about a tenner on my webcam, it's fine. Unless you want to do really spectacular thigs with it!
Also the webcam is only as good as the connection speed anyway.
I would go with the tesco one :)

do you have a playstaion2 with eyetoy? if so, i wouldnt bother buying a webcam, just download a driver for the eyetoy and use that instead, you can use it as a webcam or a videocamera and the quality is a lot better than most webcams

Go for it. My €12 supermarket own brand cam is every bit as good as my Logitech.
