It seems the last few years they have been teetering on respectability. Now this year they ar 17 games under. Is it the pitching, hitting or managing?

It's simple:

Tom Hicks
John Daniels
Ron Washington

Tom Hicks is an indifferent owner that only cares about making money and could care less about the product on the field. This is the same guy that owns the Dallas Stars and decided it was more important to attend the 10th game of the Rangers season rather than Game 7 of the Stars playoff game! He has no idea what it takes to run a successful baseball team.

John Daniels got his time before he was due. He's made mistake after mistake and bad trade after bad trade. Clearly, he needed more seasoning as an assistant under an effective General Manager (not John Hart) before he was given this opportunity. Not every young guy is the next Theo Epstein. But then again, Tom Hicks hired him. Enough said.

And finally, Ron Washington, a so called "Players Manager" has not shown the ability to motivate, discipline, and correct errors on the field. He lacks respect and sounds clueless on TV and the radio so I can only imagine how he's perceived in the locker room. Daniels and Hicks were sold a bad bill of goods with this guy. Hmmmm, maybe there's a reason he's only been a coach and never a manager. Hicks and Daniels lack the ability to effectively evaluate talent and the Washington hire is simply more evidence against them.

Bottom line, this team is a mess from top to bottom.

Texas has always been a power hitting team to make up for their lack of pitching. Now that they are not winning games by out slugging their opponents, they are in trouble. No longer are they putting up 10 runs to cover up the 6 or so their pitchers give up from game to game. When your best starter has an ERA of 6.28, you know your staff needs some help.

Talks of moving their first baseman Mark Teixeira for pitchers would help the team, though he will of course be a lost. He will be a help to most teams, but a power hitting first baseman is not that hard to come by anymore.

As ususal they have horrible pitching. This year they arent swinging the bats like they have the last few years as well. This is the ultimate recipe for disaster.

They sign has-been players. Eric Gagne, Sammy Sosa, give me a break. They're gonna lose Mark Teixeira so they'll be even worse next season.
