Ammonia is NH3
Nitric acid is HNO3 (by the way, the 3 is meant to be subscripted).
They make ammonium nitrate which is NH4NO3

NH3 + HNO3 --> NH4NO3

(all the numbers after the letters are subscripted)

hope it helps

NH3 + HNO3 = NH4NO3 ; Ammonia + Nitric Acid = Ammonium Nitrate. Okay, In this reaction Ammonia has a net charge of +1. Nitric acid has a net charge of -1. All atoms or compunds that have an unstable structure or are missing a negative or positive charge are loking for a mate that has what they need. Kind of like people seking someone who has what they desire in someone else because tehy don't have it themselves ? A man needs a woman for her egg & womb. A woman needs a man for his sperm and handyness-inventiveness.

The equation for a solution of ammonia reacting with nitric acid, called neutralisation is

NH4OH+HNO3=NH4NO3+H2O

The principle is Acid plus Base equals Salt plus Water

ammonia=NH3
nitric acid =HNO3

NH3+HNO3--------------> NH4NO3
which is Ammoium Nitrate

this happens because ammonium NH4+
and NO3- combine as the oxygen and nitrogens gain an electron from the H as it forms NH4+
