Could you please see if you can find information on this coin?On the front of the coin it came apart at the rim. On the reverse side,there is a small circle, in the center of the quarter.It is still connected in the center.I would appreciate any information you can find. thanks

Your coin was altered after it left the mint. The circle gives it away. Clad coins are explosive bonded.and it does not always work as planned, however your coin was helped, outside the mint from persons unknown. A coin losing a layer at the time of minting would jam the press or be caught by a worker. It is rare to have a U.S. clad coin fall apart, but not rare to have one of the layers missing. I have never seen a clad coin in pieces that happened at the mint or even read about it. Hope this helps. I get all the coin magazines and the weekly coin papers.

sounds like a forgery they use to put them in slot machines but were not made to last. In London there is tonnes of one pound coinds going around made of lead, and sprayed gold they work in machines and even shops accept them someone must have made a fortune as there are loads of them
