I agree that Avril, good charlotte, FOB, and simple plan are so pop that it's gross. Avril sounded a little punk on her first album but most argued that she wasn't.
But Green Day deserves some respect. They were incredible punk band. I don't think they sold out or ruined punk because they happen to have a blockbuster album and made a ton of money. Still good. The only true punk band on this list is Green Day. We should be happy they even came back!
I like 30 secs to mars. Even though Jared was just an actor, he's really good. And I never thought they were a punk band! Ever! Aren't they more emo if anything? The hair, the lyrics about anger, wanting people to get away, being lied to, and those skinny pants. I think they're emo. So emo.

Well, I think that Avril, Simple Plan and Fall Out Boy are pop. As for Good Charlotte and 30 Seconds To Mars, they seem to be pop-rock. Green Day is a rock (or punk) band actually.

Avril Lavigne is not punk (Pop Rock, but her new CD is a little Pop Punk).
Simple Plan is not either (Maybe Pop Punk).
30 Seconds to Mars aren't really punk either, but a lot more than the above.
Fall Out Boy are kinda Punk.
Green Day is one of the only Punk bands still out there.
Good Charlotte... Idk.

Avril Lavigne is described as a wannabe punk chick. But the wannabe says it all...I wouldn't describe Girlfriend as being punk type material. I think she shoudl except that she isn't really punk and get on with her POP-star life. Fall Out Boy, is OK. I wouldn't consider his music to be punk either. Green Day seems more alternative then pop to me though (similar to the All-American Rejects)...

I think that everyone has their own idea of what's punk.

Personally, I think that they have a punk feel, and they want to put a modern twist on it.
Just like the fashion from the 60's and 80's... it's not the same as it used to be, but the general idea/feel/purpose is the same.

If you like it, listen to it.
If not, then turn it off.
