You could buy third party software. Partition Magic is a good choice. Also check out Acronis.

You are probably going to need some software like Partition Magic, or something along those lines. If you have a drive that is built with one partition and you are trying to reduce that partition in size and add another partition you can use PM, but there is always a danger that something could go wrong, and you might have to reformat the entire drive.
I have done this before with PM and had success - of course that was on a drive that didn't matter to me much. It always seems to work fine when it doesn't really matter much. Good luck.

Partition magic as others have stated works...
It's not 100% effective and is more of a risk than anything else.

I have done this several times. Each time, I gather all files I need and/or want to save in a folder on my desktop. I then burn either a CD or DVD for transfer back when the formatting procedure is completed. Mainly I save my documents, favorites and my mail.pst file, being I use MS Outlook. GOOD LUCK!
