Moral reason: we are created to be individuals with free will, and not owned by anyone. It is a kind of rape of the spirit, you might say.
Practical: You will not have to worry about rebellions and being killed in your sleep. It will cost you to pay someone to work, but buying slaves and maintaining them (you can't get much work out of a slave who isn't fed properly), and hiring guards and overseers will cost plenty.
