Not sure, if he was "provoked" more like....revealed!

I don't think someone can be "provoked " to go against their own innate character.

(That is possible only if perhaps, they are being forced to under extreme circumstances like torture.)

Even if he wants to use the "provoked" excuse, he is still responsible for what came out of his mouth and his behavior.

The true character of a person is often revealed under such "stress" or pressure.

Yes Indeed we all make bad decisions, mistakes or major fauxpaus in public, but "You can't "induce" or provoke racism or antisemitism." if it isn't already part of the belief system of the person.

Even with less grievous and insensitive public (or private) statements, for most people a good place to start to repair the damage is to :
sincerely acknowledge the affront and take responsibility - not try to "blame " it on provocation.

Then when you "sober-up"
do some serious soul searching and look at just what formed the "bias" or behavior in the first place.
Take steps to find some new level of "enlightenment" no matter what your "past" is learning was.
People ( even celebs) are responsible for, lifting their own Veil of Ignorance" .
It is each individuals responsibility to really examine their "ideas" and perhaps even prepare for someone attempting to "provoke" them into gravitating to such lowbrow responces.
Actually this would have been a prime opportunity for "Kramer" to use the attack as a tool for fighting against racism - with humor!
I can think of a few great "comebacks" that would have diffused the situation not "fed it"

Bottom line,While I do have a certain amount of empathy for celebs that have substance abuse issues...they are still held responsible for their actions and the consequences like the rest of us.

Huh? Who would provoke Cosmo? For what, that stupid remark his alter ego Michael Richards said? Who the hell knows why some people say and do the things they do, it’s their burden to carry not mine.

I agree that hecklers are really really really annoying...they usualy ruin a comedy show but he is experienced and he should know how to handle it. If those guys hated him so much, why did they go to his show? They probably were trying so hard and pushing him to get a reaction.

Yes I believe he was as they were the ones that heckled him first. I wonder how they would feel if someone showed up and started making fun of them when they were trying to do their job. Now I'm not saying what he said was right, but neither was what they did.

If you mean Michael Richards, yes he was. But he should have had the sense to avoid the rant.

Here's one from the old news files. No. No one is ever provoked. He chose his reaction, now he has to live with it.
