We have a doctors appointment today at 3:30 but I just want a few opinions before then..
He has a small knot that looks about the size of a piece of gravel under his skin in the crease of his leg inside of his diaper.
It just poped up last night, it doesnt seam to be causing him any pain YET...
Has anyone else had this or seen this and what was it, my father in law suggest that it may be a small hernia but with my son only being barely one he dosent know if they will be able to do much for it yet... What are some other suggestions, just so I can be prepared for anything the doctor may say later..

I would think hernia also. They can do surgery to correct it, if that's what it is. It's not all that uncommon in little boys.

Don't worry too much until you see the doctor. You already have an appt., so you are doing what you need to do. Good luck.

A lot of babies get hernias, if that's what it is. Does the lump go back in if you gently push on it? If so, that's probably a hernia. In little babies, who have immature muscle tissue, it can resolve itself (and usually does) but if it becomes worse or strangulated, that can do a small surgery to repair it.
Either way it is pretty common and not serious enough for you to lose sleep over it.

It sounds like it could be a cyst. A cyst is a sac of fluid. They aren't dangerous and don't usually cause pain. If it is a cyst the doctor can burst it. It could also be the start of a pimple. I'm sure you've had some that start out like a bump before they fill with puss. Since it's in the crease, his diaper could be rubbing there and causing it, like a blister. I think if it was a hernia it would be hurting him and he would be crying. Good luck and God bless.
