because although the United States can't use sweat shops and child labor and have to follow safe and OHSA safety regulations ,other countries can and do just about anything they want. They can build products and ship them cheaper then they can be made in the US. Other countries don't have medical and vacation sick days and other sponsored activities that drive the price of labor up.

A lot of things are cheaper if imported. I think politics plays a hand in it too.
