I would certainly say, all babies are beautiful, adorable, sweet little things no matter what their hair colour.
Some people don't like ginger/strawberry blonde hair, why I don't know.
Still, whether it was my preference or not, (which i'm not fussed about-I'm pregnant and the baby's dad and I both have brown hair. Baby's grandad on his dads side though has ginger hair and we've been told our baby could come out ginger. I don't care. All that matters is the baby is happy and helathy!)
I'd NEVER pass a comment on someone's child-ever. She was well wrong for that and rightfully deserves a chiding.
Your baby is beautiful, regardless of hair colour.

My son had ORANGE not ginger hair when he was born up until he turned about 11 mos. Then it turned blonde. I got kind of rude responses too that hurt my feelings. I thought he was beautiful and I was a first time mom who wanted to show him off.I think red/ginger/strawberry hair is beautiful. I admit I was shocked when my son came out with patchy orange hair just becasue I don't know where it came from. But, I look at his baby pics ( he's 4 now) and I loved his hair color. It was so different that it's striking. I am pregnant with my second boy and I bet he has a little red in his hair too and that's just fine with me.

I just thought you might want to know that in certain cultures, the older people believe that reddish hair is a bad luck sign. There are aslo other cultures that believe that redheads will be impulsive and wayward.. The lady was most likely elderly, right? She was probably trying to reassure you so you wouldn't worry about it.
I had an old Russian lady tell me once not to sit on the cold concrete because I would never get pregnant if I did so. Of course I got pregnant the following month.
So anyway, don't let people's weird superstitions bother you too much. I'm sure your baby is precious.

My children have hair every color you can pick 2 Browns of different shades a "dirty blonde" don't tell her that, she has blonde hair and that's that!! And a Fire Engine RED Redhead and she is proud of that fact and so am I. I'm proud of all my kids!! they are all individuals and reflect that in their hair and eye color as well as their personalities. That other lady was just Rude!!
Say to anyone else who's rude enough to say something like that "I'm very happy that she is who she is, that's the way God made her and that's the way I love her" with a great big proud MAMA smile on your face, it will send them off in a huff and give you something more to smile about, your child.
Oh, just BTW: All my kids got straight hair, a little wave here and there but not a head full of curls, Enjoy them!!

She may not have meant it as rude, don't take it so seriously. She may have meant that typically, many babies hair color changes, and not to get too excited about the color it is when they are born. My daughter had black hair with slight orange highlights when she was born, and now it's a medium to dark brown with red highlights.
Don't flip out so much about what people say. It's just an opinion.

I love my red head, hes a cutie pie, and very handsome, I will admit I envy the girls especially the ones with curly hair... heres my not so little 8 year old :) http://i18.tinypic.com/66xjxj9.jpg
I get told off If I ever call him red or ginger hair, he says "its ORANGE!!" lol
I feel for him though, as he gets teased at school :( Its so annoying he gets teased for something he cant or shouldnt have to change. but thats life.
I hope that jackson chick never gets a red head child. I have blonde hair and my sons father has black hair (he is italian) so imagine our surprise to get a red head!! it skipped 3 generations from what we can guess... as theres no other red heads in our family.
Red heads RULE!
And did I mention theyre easy to find in a crowd? lol

lol, people can be rude. People always find something to say about my daughter, now 8 months, because she has more hair than any baby Ive ever seen. So they compliment her dark blonde hair, then point out that her second toe is longer (thanks to daddy), or one person told me that since she smiles so much she will have wrinkles early in life and I should start putting that Olay anti-aging stuff on her!
That woman may have known someone that hated their red hair, just blow them off, look at your daughter and laugh, and tell her how beautiful she is!

no sorry but just had to reply anyway about that lady.
How rude! Some people never stop to think that not everyone is as shallow as they are and probably not bothered what colour their baby's hair is and that they may in fact like it that their child has ginger hair as it is more unique and individual.

When I got over the surprise of having a baby with strawberry blonde hair I started to love it. Everywhere we go women comment on his beautiful hair and lots would like to have that color.
One of the most popular girls at our high school had thick red hair and it made her stand out.
