I just received photos of my friends new house and another friend sent a birthday card for one of my kids. I love getting snail mail, magazines, and goodies from my mail carrier! I also write letters and mail them.

Yeah, sometimes. Mostly bills. I have a close friend that lives across the country, so we mail each other cards and pictures and stuff. Its nice to do that rather than just email. I think it's more personal.

Once in a while someone will send a letter or card but it is largely bulk mail that just gets tossed into recycling or just a bill that I'd love to just toss.

Yes. A friend and I have regularly corresponded for over 15 years this way. It is nice to receive a handwritten letter.

Some companies are reluctant to communicate by e-mail and others back up their e-mails with mailed letters and then there is, of course, the junk mail

Yes. You have to write it to receive it though. Many have lost the talent for letter writing or don't feel the need. It is a great thing, especially for the elderly who hang on to letters and re-read them. They wait for letters. Write one if you can spare a few minutes for a loved one.
