I am critical of the McCanns in the media and would not dispute the strain is now starting to show..and possibly the realisation they may never see their daughter ... yes you can hope and expect a positive outcome but since it is now one month it is now long enough to raise the possibility of never seeing the child...
I dont judge their particular behaviou and responses because none of us really know;
However I was watching Vanished last night;
The main detective questioning
the Senator whose wife has gone missing....
"I am wondering why I am standing in front of a man whose wife has gone missing not more than 21 hours ago...and why you are talking about yourself!"
and then I though well if people here arent suspicious or not then the police in portugal may certainly have been...do they have something to hide?

Actually they look more like they're about to sneeze.
This was dated a month back, though. I do understand what you're saying - the parents may look pained in this photograph. But that was a month ago - now it's a different chapter in the story, so to speak. Now it's all about the McCanns, not Maddy. This photo was before their race for fame.

This is a total mess, the replies are horrendous but true, its all money based now, whats happened to the police investigations, ive not heard any recent reports, more intergations and home searches where are they ?? Of course the parents will be devastingly heartbroke, but hey, what is going on, something is definately not sounding right.

i actually feel sorry for you being sucked in by this farce
can you not see what most people can see?
if these parents where normal they would be so totally and utterly devastated that for one they would not be able to go for daily jogs, two they would not be able to keep a daily blog and three they would be more concerned about hireing a private investigator rather than a bunch of lawyers to sort out the money that has been donated.
I had every sympathy for them at first, but now all i see are two money and fame hungry people who are more intersted in setting up funds and organising events then finding their dear poor little girl
lets not forget they left them kids alone that night
oh by the way that picture looks to me like they are squinting from sun light.....or the flash of continual cameras in their faces

Whether they're suffering or not is a bit beside the point, isn't it? Their indulgence in their own feelings is what started this mess. A babysitter would've cost what - maybe €20? I remind you of the exact layout of the resort - complete with trees, bushes and pool between the apartment and the restaurant, just scroll to the bottom of the page for the map:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6662723.stm
I notice their suffering didn't stop them from flying two solicitors out to Portugal to advise them on how best to cover their backs before giving statements a mere 10 days after her disappearance,
http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,91210-1265436,00.html
and registering the website on the same day (findmadeleine.com) and the following day (bringmadeleinehome.com) - run a quick whois on the names if you don't believe me - and incorporating their company less than a week later, with Gerry and other family members as the only directors....
http://www.armadillo.co.uk/servlet/com.snowchicken.horus?service=rm008&function=cobasic&session=&reference=06248215
My first reaction was one of horror and sympathy when I first heard the story, but as I saw the full circumstances surrounding her disappearance, and heard the blatant lies and 'damage control' statements issued by both parents, those feelings quickly gave way to incredulity tinged with disgust.
Sorry, I'm normally quite a soft-hearted and compassionate person, but this carry-on is beyond the pale.

No-one says they aren't suffering, but is that not more a look of regret for what they did?. It all comes down to the fact that if they really cared about their children they would not have left them on their own for even a minute let alone hours! Im sorry, I want Madeliene back safe as much as anyone, but truly loving, devoted parents would not have given the opportunity for her to have been taken in the first place! They have to live with that for the rest of their lives and that is what their faces show!

Regardless of whether they are suffering (they must be of course) their daughter is missing due to their selfishness and neglect, this is a fact. Does anyone actually think that that poor child would have been taken if she had been with her parents that night? Of course not, so in my opinion, they had better be suffering as they are solely to blame for the situation.

A good response RM. Thank you.
I have seen the Mother look a little upset a couple of times, always at Church - strangely enough. But the Father? I'm sorry, Gerry doesn't look upset to me. That photo could mean anything. He could even be about to sneeze........

I think that its only now sinking in to them fully the reality of what has happened, because of their faith they believed it would end and Madeline would be returned. Denial if you like and now you see them crumbly as thye realise that she may well be dead or being torured by some pervert. I would not wish on anyone what tey are going through.
