Santa Claus is a symbol, a bautiful symbol of the Christmas season. Do you think the Christmas tree exists? there is no tree bearing crystal fruits... however, we created it and believe in it as a symbol of Christmas. There are many things in the world that do not physically exits and, frankly, I believe that it is better that way. Lack of physical existence gives us the opportunity of using our imagination and justify their presences in certain moments of our lives... Santa made us happy and even today, he is playing a very positive role in Christmas... his existence is then justified... well, we do not need him to be physically present... the magic will vanish because we would have to cover his needs... and that is tiresome... he exists in our imagination, which is better, and brings us happiness without asking anything in return... So, the Christmas tree exits, Santa exists, the rein deers exists, in the same manner as the smiles of children and adults exist because of the presence of these symbols in our homes every single year.

I would have to say yes, there is a Santa Claus. He lives in all of our hearts and minds during the holiday season. He's a symbol of hope and brings joy to kids (and some adults). Santa Claus is one person who will live on in infamy and will be back once a year. I'm still a believer!!

Yes, there is a person that exists like that. If my memory serves me right his name was St. Nicholas. He was a person that gave gifts to children in his time(I presume during Christmas). The last time I heard, his family continues that tradition that he has left up to now. So whoever named Santa Claus got it from St. Nicholas.:)

there used to be a name names nicholas who a very long time ago around christmas would leave money on the porches for ppl as gifts...later on he became known as saint nicholas...or santa claus as we know him today.

todays santa is more commercialized and has lost the true meaning of christmas. it is more for little kids.
