alright so i have this qu

so my qu is what does the 3 mean above the sign thing where 8 is?

the 3 means which number if you mutiply by itself 3 times, will give you 8? the answer is 2.
examples:

= 5 since 5*5*5 = 125 , the number
inside the radical sign.

= 3 since 3*3*3 = 27 ,
