Both nations were subject to overt and determined USA control over every aspect of life. It will be interesting to see how many Iraqi refugees arrive in the USA and recreate many little "baghdads" Over time, they will begin to balance the USA jewish minorities and painfully wean the USA off its co=dependency with Israel. .

If we were trying to "steal" Iraq, Iraq would not have a prime minister or a president. Nor would it have a parliament.

I don't think the ill fated attempt in Iraq was "to steal" the nation, but, your allusion to Vietnam is an interesting one. Since the early days of the cold war, America, under certain leaders, has set to a myopic strategy of attacking nations that represent " a critical place to fight our foes". Cuba, Latin America, south America, Vietnam, and now, the dicier Iraq. Using military force for political purposes has a bad history of success, and, Iraq should become a high water point of demonstrating the limitations of using military force, as, was Vietnam.

As we had a treaty with S. Vietnam to defend them, I don't see your comparison. How did we try to "steal" S. Vietnam? Go back and take a history course.

It was NEVER our attempt to steal Vietnam any more than it is our attempt to steal Iraq......unless you give us facts to the contrary!
