My doctor suggests to stay local. But only for the sake of "In case I go intolabor, I can get to my hospital" Travel in itself is safe. If you do travel, make sure you have a list of hospitals in the area of where you will be staying, make sure to take breaks from sitting in the car (Get out and stretch you legs often) Try and sit with your legs somewhat stretched out. I would bring a small pillow in case your back starts to hurt. Good luck. (I am due Aug 20th, and my daughter has a doctors appointment August 1st at a hospital 2 hours away. I plan on going anyway, I mean if I go into labor, I will already be near in a hospital, and pass a few on the way there. :)

Its not an issue for the baby as much as it is for the mother to be. You need to keep your circulation going. So stopping a little more often to get out of the car are walk should do the trick. None the less you are in your 3rd trimester so towards the end it may be best to stay closer to home, in case you need to get to the hospital on short notice.

Yes it is safe, just make sure you always have med. records with you in case of early labor or complications. You should get them from your doctor, if you just call the nurse can usually get them ready without an appointment. It will be perfectly fine for the baby but will def be hard on you, sitting like that :p! Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy!

i think it's a personal opinion.. You can def. travel if you're up for it!! Just stop alot to walk around, so you don't give yourself leg cramps.. Do it during the day so you're not sleepy. And since you're going to be away from your caregiver, briefly think of a plan of what you'd do in case of an emergency.. where you would go and who to call, etc.. Other than that, you're good to go. The baby will enjoy the ride, and the music you both will be listening to :) Just be careful and good Luck!

I am in my third trimester and I don't even know how you can consider driving for 12 hours or more. I can barely make it the 10 minutes to the grocery store without having to pee or feeling uncomfortable. But if you want to just talk to your doctor.

I'm at 34 weeks now. At my doctor's appointment at 31 weeks, he told me I should only travel within 2 hours of the hospital. It makes it tough for my husband's family who lives 4 hours away.
