Vinyl lettering can be easily removed with the use of a hair dryer, set it to medium heat so that You don't blister Your paint, pass over the vinyl several times until it starts to wrinkle just a bit, at that point the glue on the back should become slimey and the letters should be quite easily peeled away, then just use soap and water to remove the remaining glue.

We take a blow drier to remove lettering off our boat and gently peel back the letters. Works like a charm.

Depending on where the letters are, glass or paint.

Glass use a razor blade, and WD40.
Paint, use blow drier on low setting.

Pressure washer with warm water. Plastic scraper that looks like a razor blade and soapy water. It is easy to scratch the paint and the area under the letters will not be faded.
