Because that bone in your elbow is called a humerus bone,so as in being funny another word for it is humerus.

I've never really thought about why it is called a funny bone. Or a crazy bone as some people call it. I know it tingles and hurts for a few minutes after you bump it, so it's not funny at all. Tyler's answer is probably the best explanation for your question.

No it's not funny when you bump it, but it does give you a funny sorta painful sensation. I don't laugh, and I don't like the feeling personally.

Tylers answer is probably right,but I personally think the person who named it that thought it was funny to hear & see how people react when they bang that bone!=)...it does indeed hurt like the dickens!
