You probably have a faulty door ajar switch. It could also be a wiring issue with the electronics to or from the switch. A ford station can tell you which door. The dome light is staying on because a door is not registering as closed. There is a safety shutoff so you won't run your battery down.

One of the door pin switches is defective you can take the screw out of one at a time and unplug the wire after masking tape the wire to the body. and see whick one is grounding the dome light the tail gate switch is inside the rear latch and harder to fix. Some time the door gets slightly bent and the switch is still good tape a penny to the door to depress the switch farther tempoary fix to keep your battery from running down until you rebuild the door hindge or fix the door.

Since you are asking it I assume the you already made sure doors are shut. You have a bad sensor or a door is not level an not seating correctly in place. take it to a Electric Mechanic
if you want to pay top $$$ take it to Ford.

Manually keep dome light off. Make sure all your doors encluding your trunk is shut tight. If it does not go off
you may have a short in the wiring. Take it to FORD. :-)
