I'm not talking about a ratings system for films; of course I know they have that already. What I'm asking is should there be a minimum age for children to be able to enter the theater. Really small kids and babies don't know what the hell is going on anyway; it's not like a baby can follow a film. I shouldn't have to pay 9 bucks to see a movie then not be able to enjoy it because someone's baby won't stop crying, or their little kids won't stop talking. It may be a little far fetched, but could an age limit for entry work, or would parents totally pitch a b*tch about it? Is there anything that can really besides just going to the late show.

I understand your pain! I wouldn't dream of bringing my children to a show that I thought they couldn't sit through. If I tried it but they couldn't, I'd tell the management that I was leaving to keep the other theatergoers from having to listen to my kids, and ask them for passes to a future movie or even a refund (I'm sure they'd oblige!).

If it happens to you again, first try saying something like this, "I know you're enjoying the movie, but it makes it hard for others to follow along when you're talking/your baby is crying/etc." If it doesn't stop, report the issue to management. They will take care of the problem. If they don't, walk out and DEMAND a refund. Then report the theater to the national HQ if you want some serious action taken.

When I lived in Virginia Beach, one of the movie theaters had a policy about no children under 5 years old at any movies rated PG-13 or higher after 7 pm. You might suggest a similar policy at your local theater.

I live in Houston, TX and there actually are "adult" theaters. They show the same films as all the others but with age restrictions.

No children under 5 are allowed and children under 18 must have a parent. They even have a full bar and full restaurant menu and servers taking care of you throughout the movie.

Check your local area for theaters like that. The ones here are called Star Cinemas.

oh gosh, definitely!! i hate to sit in a movie and parents bring babies along especially if it's rated for adults.why would u want ur child hearing all that obscene language?the baby begins to cry and i must suffer.i kno babies cry whenever but that's a reason u shudnt bring them.i'm sorry u couldnt get a baby-sitter.feel free to come see the movie when u do.if it's a kid's show (eg shrek and cartoons) well of course there may be no age limit but still have ur child maintain common courtesy.dont have them speaking when the movie is going on especially if ur child saw it already and is speaking out the whole show.if i wanted a review i would have read the papers!! let ur child kno that other ppl havent seen it and they shudnt ruin it for them.there shud be an age limit, like noone under 5 years.

Well, we wouldn't be having much on this question if there were still drive-in theaters. And many people watch DVD's at home now. Sometimes I think we're going forward with betterment, other times I feel we've slipped back. It is a free country so you are aware that we shouldn't limit another's freedom. If you don't like the environment in theaters then you shouldn't go especially on a week-end when its going to be loaded with people of all ages. The mother of a young child is also taking a chance of taking her child into that environment as well. Who knows if your going to get two horny teenagers in the seat in front of your four year old? We just have a human tendency of wasting our hard earned money.

OK. I thought you were talking about THEATRE not Cinema. Lol. I saw We Will Rock You. Loud Queen Music and heavy guitar riffs drowned out by some baby crying the whole time. Same thing in Tap-Dogs. Get a cell people. Same thing in the flix. if the kid is going to shut up and watch or sleep fine. If it is a kids movie, OK. But it is so rude to expect other people to sit there and watch a movie while your rugrat is screaming hysterically.

Get a sitter like we did. - Sorry. Rant over

I totally agree with you, I get so mad when I pay money to enjoy a movie and I can't hear it because someone brought their 3 year old who doesn't stop screaming.
I think that children under the age of 5 should not be alloweed in the theatre

i know that i didn't even get ID'd even though i am 19 and look young enough to be under 17. I would have an older friend come with who is actually 17 just in case, the movie is pretty scary i can tell you.

Strange, but I have never been exposed to crying children in theaters. I am much more apt to experience rude adults and teens who want to converse all through the movie. Most annoying.

No age limit!

But really bad R rated stuff should be shown late at night, then it's the parents fault!

Nothing should be censored!
