I was standing there looking out my front door yesterday, and saw a pigeon stagger through my yard and collapse face down in my flower bed. I went out and checked, it it was dead. No sign of struggle or injury.
Is that weird or what?

That is weird... what is with birds lately? A few weeks ago, I was driving with my daughter and noticed two birds fly in front of the car (we were going about 15mph on a dirt road)...but we only saw one bird arrive on the other side. My daughter said "Did you hit that bird?!" ... I said I didn't think I had, because I didn't hear or feel a "thunk" or anything, and we were going so slow as it was. She wanted to get out and make sure, so I pulled over... sure enough, the bird was sitting on the road behind us. She walked over and I saw her trying to pick it up.. I yelled "Omg, did we hit it?!" ... and she said no, that it was fine. She scooped it up and it made no attempt to fly away from her... she pet it on the head a few times, then she placed it on the grass on the other side of the road. 2 seconds later, it flew off. We were both like "What the heck??" ... it was definitely weird.

Yes, but you didn't see what happen before this. It may very well have been hit by a passing vehicle before you saw it. It didn't die until a minute or so later. This could actually have been seconds. But it happens more than you'd think. And you may NOT always see an injury when hit by a car or other vehicle.

I would make afeather boa out of the feather
fry up the breast meat
and use the bones to make rose feed
