Limited company... cleverly referred to as "The Fund" - someone has already provided a link somewhere to Companies House where they are registered...

P.S I received an email from Team McCanns a couple of weeks ago stating that they are a limited company as they WERE UNABLE TO OBTAIN CHARITABLE STATUS as their company would not "be for the greater good of all"..
that certainly says something!!!!!!

It is a Ltd Company.
Whats wrong with the Mccann Supporters? What are some suggesting? That the money is compensation for the loss of their daughter? I THOUGHT it was supposed to be used to find the child, well you learn something new every day don't you?
In fact what i really cant understand, is that the Families supporters just wont discuss the "Fund".
If the Mccann's are such a fine upstanding couple, with nothing to conceal, why are we not allowed to talk about the cash? Ordinary people have contributed out of their ordinary earnings, don't you think there ought to be some accountability?

As a limited company they will have to produce accounts for taxation in April but as it is limited it can be wound up at any time without notice or accountability to anyone but the directors,Employees are not usually involved in company closures or even consulted..
The company accounts can remain private and only viewed by the tax inspectors and company accountants.
If it was a PLC or charity the accounts would by law have to be open and published for all to see.But as there are no shareholders to be accountable to/for the McCann Ltd Co can in effect refuse to disclose any and all financial dealings, investments and future spending plans.
A donation to a Ltd company does not require a reciept unless requested by the donor,But it will have to be entered into the companies records,

This is all starting to sound more sinister than even I expected. And I must admit that when Madeleine first went missing I did wonder very much what part the parents had played in all this... other than leaving 3 children alone in an hotel bedroom of course.

The lack of emotion and financial spin on this is sickening.

I sincerely hope that the Mcanns will donate ALL the money collected in their ltd company to deserving charities connected with children needs which should be nearest to their hearts if they both have one/// and further to that both their salaries being amassed in their absence which will amount to quite a few thousand pounds 50.000 most probably to now

That is correct.

Leaving No Stone Unturned Limited: Company Registration Number - 6248215

It also means they have no obligation to say what they are doing with the 'donations' and they can't claim gift aid on peoples donations (the extra 24p that is refunded via the tax man) and they won't benfiit from the banking offers other charities do.

It's a limited company. There is nothing unusual about being a limited company to hold onto the funds until you attain charitable status. But whether or not they have applied for charitable status is the $64,000 question.

It's a limited company. It is made that way because there is no way you can be a charity when it benefits only one person. If they were campaigning for all lost children they would be able to have it as a charity organisation. Seeing as the McCanns seem only interested in their own well being I'm sure they wouldn't want to publicise other abductions.

It is not a charity, it is a registered Limited Company. That means all the money received via public donations can be spent on themselves. It should not be allowed, and more fools people are for giving to it.

Limited Company and by the way they left it too late to say they were wrong. It should not have happened in the first place. And I don't see them punished either. In Ireland and the UK they would not have got off the way they did.
