Murtha your efforts to "educate" us arent worth the time it took you to type them.
I am a veteran, I was honorably discharged and I kept my medals and awards, also my qualification badges. Your Commander in Chief (and I use the title with tongue planted FIRMLY in cheek) has none of these items, as he went AWOL from his Texas Air National Guard Unit.
Anyone who goes AWOL during a Time of War (at that time, Vietnam) is considered a DESERTER, and is stripped of ALL awards, medals, citations AND qualifying insignia (such as Aviator's wings).
Republicans were OH so loud when discussing Bill Clinton's so-called "draft dodging" but not ONE word about Bush Jr.'s cowardice. He gets his Daddy to post him to the Texas ANG ahead of hundreds or more qualified people so he can avoid service in Vietnam, stating on his application form he wanted to avoid "fighting out of the country" (what a hero, right?), then its discovered he couldn't even finish a 6 year military obligation. He didn't even have the Juevos to formal;y leave the Guard, or enter Active Duty to finish his term, oh no, he just stopped going to drill dates. Once again, DADDY got him off the hook with the Defense Department, but that doesn't make a coward a hero, I don't care WHOSE son he is.
Oh and THIS isn't a Wikipedia link:
http://www.glcq.com/bush_at_arpc1.htm
Just another example of Republican hypocracy, the rules apply to everyone (except me).

The National Defense ribbon is\was handed out to anyone serving during a time of war. I don't think it qualifies as a medal per say. Neither does the small arms expert.
Without a doubt he did have his aviator wings.
I'm no fan of Bush's and I would classified him as a spoiled rich boy who used his daddy's wealth and connections to avoid service in an area that would not have been conducive to his safety... but the lack of medals is sorta net picky.
Let's make fun of Laura Bush's 700 hair cut!
A number of Commissioned Officers have an entire chest of medals that mean absolutely nothing.... in fact a more than a few will fly over an area\theater just to get a medal.

I feel neither. The American people, as a whole chose Bush. Those who wished him out should have been more forceful in their campaigning, mor enumerous at the polls. We live in a nation where the majority rules. The majority spoke and not once, but twice elected Bush to the presidency. The people who really have no reason to complain or to cheer are those that did not vote, over forty percent of the voting elligible population. I do not feel sorry for them either. It is all about choice. We chose the president that makes choices for us.

That's too funny. I did not know that. In the Navy, we called that a " gedunk" medal.
Granted Bush did not honorably serve his full committment. My guess is that his real records were destroyed to avoid publicity when he bacame governor.
Had he honorably served his full time, we would know more about that as well. Why was he pulled from flight status while in the TANG. Could it have meant he would not have passed a durg test?

I agree. The Kennedy (Bobby and Ted) and Clinton military awards, on the other hand, are very impressive. Bill's "National Award For Loathing The Military" ribbon makes us all proud of his contribution to the defense of his country. His bombing of the aspirin factory is one of the great battles in American history. Bush, who has done nothing other than lead the battle against terrorism, pales in comparison to our mighty democrat warriors like John Kerry and his stirring sacrifices in Vietnam. Even more commendable was Kerry's inexpensive treatment for the "injuries" he self-inflicted in order to get enough Purple Hearts to get home early. They only required Band Aids.

The only ribbon I suspect you are authorized to wear is the "rainbow" ribbon from your NAMBLA unit.
PS: let me educate you. If he was honorably discharged which he was... all ribbons and medals earned will appear on his DD 214. I know your NAMBLA service is different.

You are another lib who speaks without knowledge. The fifth answer said it well. Bush was NOT the only soldier who was stripped of medals without being discharged. That is absolute BS.
As for the war being "for a lie"...I am also sick of this argument. Gt this through your thick skull. If Bush lied, then both Clintons lied, Kerry lied, almost 100% of Congress lied, world intelligence lied, the UN lied. Hell, even SADAM thought that he had WMD, so it is time to let YOUR lie go. That dog won't hunt.

If you feel sorry for him, buy him some medals off of e-bay and send them to him.
Is this the reason we never see the Commander in Chief in uniform?
