These parents do not know if their daughter has been beaten, raped, starved or killed.

The pain they are going through is unimaginable, truly hell on earth.

The thought of the story just fading away into the background fills me with a sense of panic so I cannot imagine what it would be like for the parents which is why they are trying to publicise the case.

They do not want people to forget their little girl.

They just want her back.

How can you be so heartless?

How can you be so cynical?

I ask this not to provoke but I ask this sincerely from my heart.

I truly cannot understand your warped attitudes to this case.

Yes they did wrong. But is there no room for forgiveness in your souls anymore.

Dave S - Madeleine is not the one who is being constantly slated and criticised on these forums. If she was, then I would defend her as well. My level of sympathy is naturally and obviously a lot higher for Madeleine.

I have never reported a question or answer on these forums so it must have been someone else.

It seems the world is made up of 3 types of people: 1) those who like to help the McCanns to find their child; 2) those who want to torment and punish them; and 3) those who are indifferent.
I hope that there are more of (1) that the other categories. As they say, if you can't be helpful, just keep quiet. Let's hope that they find her soon and in good health.
Many of those who have written slamming them appear to be like people who would stand outside a burning building shaking their heads and wagging their accusing fingers, 'She should not have left the chip pan on to answer the doorbell. Serves her right. Maybe losing her kids in the fire will teach her.' Yes, it would, and it will make you guys better persons?

I understand what you are saying BUT they should not have left Maddy open to this risk! I have sympathy for Maddy and only a minute for the McCanns.
I feel anger at the parents for putting her at risk and the twins.
I am not heartless but angry that trough a parents negligence a child is either dead or with another family very upset!
I am also upset for all those parents out there that may have been falsely accused of harming their child and going to prison..when they were innocent...
and then you have the likes of the McCanns getting every ones sympathy and cash for neglecting their kids! That's exactly how i see it.
If the cash was being used to find Maddy and other missing kids then i would be happy...but at the mo all it's doing is standing idle ready to fund their holidays.
Also if that had happened in the UK the police and social services would have had the twins taken into care and the parents would probably be suspects!

Also I consider how other parents might be feeling that have had kids murdered or gone missing through NO FAULT of their own...and had no help from the public and famous people but yet the McCanns have got all the help when it was their own negligence that caused this awful tragic situation in the first place!

To empathise with this situation means to take a real regard to the fact their daughter has gone and what that feels like ...
If one can relate to their daughter or loved one and then to not know where she is or with whom is very sad....

but then reality bites and the McCanns like most parents would be very sad that they do not know what has happened to their daughter

and again to add to your list of what might have happened to her why not what if she had dies in an apartment fire whilst her parents were at the restaurant?

Did they not miss their child when they left her alone....

This case has happened before and the publicity and helpness of that family have been there and empathised with but in this case people are going to all sorts of extraordinary lengths to find her....

Unfortunately it's what sells papers and gets bums on seats watching the news on tv, but in an ideal world, no, they should just report the facts. I suppose that as long as it's made clear that what they are saying is just speculation, then it's not so bad.

Mate, if we were so heartless, we wouldn't care enough to get so angry in the first place.
I agree with the publicity being a good thing, but as I have said a couple of times before, they should use the donations to pay 2 or 3 reputable papers to print Madeleine's photo on the front page each day with the simple caption "Madeleine Still Missing, No New Leads". This would keep Madeleine in the public eye but wouldn't give the kidnappers any clue as to what they were going to do next, thus making it hard for them to be one step ahead all the time, which they obviously are because it's nearly 5 weeks now and we're still none the wiser.

Toietmoi, you are indeed a gentleman, it makes a nice change to see someone trying to see both sides of the argument in a logical, non-offensive manner...now can you please teach Piltdown Man that lesson?

Thank god there are no public executions with the way the McCann critics are going, there would be mass hysteria as they fought for front row viewing!
The consequence and knowledge of that consequence is far greater than any court could impose, besides they know they got people who question their judgement, they got to come back to that.So why the big issue of the court?

I'm not 'cynical' about it. I just state the facts that they left young children alone who in any sane and responsible person's mind should not have been left to fend for themselves. They are accountable to the law for that. The fact they are going through pain is irrelevant to whether they should face a court. I'm aware of other cases of neglect where the distraught parent or parents have been through hell but have still been called to account for their actions. It is called getting justice FOR THE CHILD and makes it that bit less likely this will happen again. I've been appalled as have many by the absence of remorse shown by the McCanns and their pathetic excuses for what they did. Surely if even one child could be spared a terrible fate (and I'm not just talking about from abduction here, what about fire, accidents etc) then surely it would have been worth appealing to other parents not to follow suit? To try to absolve themselves of any responsibility by pretending that this is reasonable behaviour is a grievous display of self preservation.

Obviously everyone wishes for the safe return of Maddie, but what has happened here is not an isolated incident. You are being a little naive to think that Maddie is the only missing girl out there. You have been sucked in by Team McCann who want everyone to donate to their world trip and forget about the other cases, where lower class parents or third world families have lost children but are not in the position to appear on the news every day. I would have more sympathy for them if they admitted their neglect instead of hiding behind naivity. Having lost one child, one wonders how they can bring themselves to leave their other two out of their world tour. They do themselves no favours and the whole thing seems quite odd.

How do you know the parents dont know what is going on with their daughter? In many cases the parents were found to be guilty. This could just all be a whole scam to hide their guilt or a money making scam. We certainly have seen weirder stuff. So Ok lets say they didnt take her and she was infact kidnapped. How come on Gerrys June 3rd blog the name Madeleine is not mentioned at all but the word campaign is? This not a presidential election. If this blog is suppose to help in finding Madeleine then why do we know that they managed to get a bite to eat and went to the beach with their family? I could careless what they are eating and what their leisurly activities are and it just seems kind of fishy to me. I agree with the poster that Madeleine herself may have difficulty forgiving her parents if found. Heartless people would say it is ok to leave children unattended. And well how can you not help be cynical when this would not have happened had they had their childs well being at heart from the beginning. How could they be so heartless as to think drinks, eating and hanging out with friends is more important then the safety of their flesh and blood. To me kidnapping would be the last thing on my mind if I left my toddler in a building alone no matter where it was, home, holiday or shopping mall. I can think of at least a dozen other senirios that could happen leaving a child that young to fend for themselves.

I understand why some people criticise the McCanns’ behaviour and I don’t think the McCanns should be above criticism.

I think it is legitimate to criticise the McCanns for leaving them alone that night.

I think it is legitimate to criticise the Media for their disproportionate response to her disappearance and not other missing children.

I think it is legitimate to criticise the mass public emotion- yellow ribbon, minute silence etc

I think it's legitimate to criticise the celebrities who have jumped on board

But what I utterly detest is how some people are not identifying with what the McCanns are going through-
Imagine lying awake every night, wondering whether your child- your own child- was alive, or was at that moment being beaten or starved or molested in the hands of some monster. I could not bear such a thing.

Whatever criticism I have I kept for myself in this unimaginably dreadful situation.

Very well said and excellent question.

You are dealing with very sick people who are driven with envy because they see the money in the rescue fund. They think money is more important than the poor child and parents.

You are right all the Mc Canns want is to get the child back.

Just notice how some commentators make slimy excuses for their jealous sicko comments like " we want Madeline back but------" and then go on to talk about the Pope visit, the aircraft flight, the money collected.

I fully agree they are heartless cynical people and a disgrace tio the human race
