You really need to read "Stop Shin Splints" by Gary Buchenic (also available in electronic format here: http://www.shinsplintscure.org ). It's about how to permanently cure your shin splints naturally. Worked for me and for thousands of people. Good luck!

i'm a physical therapist
it can be both a soft or hard tissue injury
could be inflammation or injury to the muscle alongside the shin or could be a stress fracture in the bone or due to overpronation of the foot
check out www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/shin-splints
hope this helps
