if you aren't using any network connections or any internet, you would not probably have a virus.
well if you ask me, AVG is best for it's free, compared to those Mcaffe and Norton, they p1sses me off totally for they're prices are undoubtedly useless for they're work is just like AVG which is free and a lot faster and sure security cleaner

If you are looking for speed...avoid Norton and McAfee. If you are looking for price, AVG and Avast are free and work well. As far as protection, there is no virus scanner that is foolproof. Anyone that says so is just plain wrong. Virus scanners are reactive software. In other words, they won't catch a virus until somebody, somewhere gets infected and the virus companies put out updates. Therefore, common sense is the most important thing to remain virus free.

Some AVs find viruses that other AVs don't, no matter how good they are. Anyway, I would say Forticlient and Avira are pretty good.
I wouldn't choose Norton cause it uses lots of PC memory, Mccafee is not a good AV either, in my opinion.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.
besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.
download firefox for free, Just have a try:

My Norton 2007 has never failed, it keeps everything off, down to the last tracking cookie. I'm happy with it. I renewed a few months ago for $40 a year.

The BEST antivirus software is just a part of a complete internet security suite. (All of the programs working together to protect your system.) ZoneAlarm came out on top, according to PC Magazine. (It's what I personally use on my own system.)
