You don't "adjust" to anyone, you act normally and have them accept you the way you accept them. They may feel the same as you and are nervous about it.
Break the tension some way, invite them to dinner, make something special they like, do something special to make them comfortable. Act appropriately.

I also went through with that experience, but i survived. I just be myself and in the end his parent, brother and sisters have loved me, more than they loved my husband.
So have yourself, be as nice as you can and most of all, be yourself.

I just got married too and went through the same thing.
Just be really nice, but sincere, not too syrupy. Be yourself.
