As if Libs aren't often talked down to in a condescending manner on YA too.

Why did intelligent, patriotic Germans look down with contempt upon those who blindly followed the Nazis'?

History is cyclical...especially for those too ignorant to learn from it

There's nothing a conservative says on these boards that wasn't already spewed out by the followers of Joe McCarthy, Benito Mussolini or Adolf Hitler...same old propaganda/lies.... endless hatred in the name of god and country

Right on Scenic Point !

Actually, I have noted mean-spirited, condescending responses from both, right and left, but admittedly more from the far-right conservative side.

We have to remember, these biting responses are remembered more than informed, logical rsponses; one notes what seems like a personal attack.

In reality, logical, well-thought out responses come from all orientations. We have to realize that the Democratic party has its conservative wing, as the Republican party has its liberal wing. Things only get insulting when it's the far-outer reaches of the bell curve.

Perhaps our founding fathers put checks and balances into the Constitution to protect us and the country from outer fringes.

Why does anyone speak down to anyone in condescending tones?

Isn't it because they are undereducated, lack social skills and basically, are just too ignorant to know that doing so only serves to nullify any statement they are trying to make and instead, breeds disrespect, contempt and resistance? Isn't it because they are, in fact, making an attempt to hide the fact that they have nothing knowledgeable to say behind the snideness of their tones and comments? Isn't it because they themselves are just unhappy, anger filled human beings who enjoy taking pot shots at people who have no true avenue of recourse. Especially here where they don't have to ever 'really' face us or, otherwise be held accountable for their foul attitudes and diatribes?

Aren't those the true reasons behind condescending tones in any context?

LIberals are condescending to conservatives because it creates the illusion among other liberals that they are superior to conservatives. Conservatives, out of frustration with hearing so much childish criticism from liberals, are also condescending, as you would be with a misbehaving and rebellious teenager. I've seen, on many occasions, conservatives invite liberals to defend or articulate the positive points of the liberal agenda on this forum, but I have yet to see any answers, other than the usual "the war is illegal", "Bush lied and kids died", and other mindless rants. I would like to hear about one single positive aspect of abortion, for instance. If liberals are so adamantly in favor of it then it should be easy to justify it. Who benefits, besides the "doctor" who performs abortions? What is positive about redistribution of wealth, other than getting free money without earning it? Would the people who favor it and who are going to college, and have a high GPA, be willing to give up part of their GPA in order to raise the low GPA of a fellow student who spends all of their time partying, and little time studying? If not, why not? Be specific.

I have often found that when one thinks they are being "condescended to" it's simply because they don't like the answer. That works on both sides of the fence.

I'm not sure what YA is, but my opinion is that it makes those who do that feel better about themselves because they know that if they where seen doing some of the things they do they would be cons too. Covering up there deceit makes them feel better.

Probably for the same reason that so many cons are condescending to liberals. This is not a one way thing.

Aw, c'mon. We have hecklers on both sides of the fence, and you know that. It's part of the fun and breaks up the monotony.. :)
