Euclid. The importance of geometry is in proofs and logical thinking, surveying(as the name suggests geometry means measurement of the earth). It also has importance in drafting, architecture, machining, and the list goes on. A geometry starts with a group of undefined terms, such as point, line, plane. Then a list of statements called axioms are assumed to be true. The nuts and bolts of a geometry consists in discovering statements, called theorems, which can be proven using a list of statements that follow each other logically, from the axioms and previously proven theorems.

Euclid of Alexandria is the most prominent mathematician of antiquity best known for his treatise on mathematics The Elements. The long lasting nature of The Elements must make Euclid the leading mathematics teacher of all time. However little is known of Euclid's life except that he taught at Alexandria in Egypt.
