Ok, I have an old pc with a ok GPU. The GPU is a Volari V3XT AGP with 128mb of GDDR2. I know, why would you want that card!! Well, I got it for $12 on the internet and it sure beats an integrated S3 Unichrome IGP! It worked fine for a few months, but then I started to see pink lines all over the screen, then half of the time my computer wouldn't start, then finally my computer wouldn't start at all. To date it still won't start with that card. I've had to resort to the S3 Unichrome. Does anyone now what is wrong? My pc specs: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (Barton Core 2.4GHz, 1200mhz FSB) 1GB of DDR 200GB HDD.

Your video card is definitely hosed. My 9700 Pro did the same thing. You need another video card. No need to troubleshoot any further.

Well. Do you have another AGP card? If you do throw that one on and see if it works, if it doesn't, then it's probably your AGP slot and you need a new motherboard.

If you don't have another AGP card to test that with, put in the Volari, if you can get it to start, try re-installing the drivers, that might fix it.

If it still won't start with the AGP card in, the Volari, then I'm going to assume that the card is the problem, but without having an extra AGP card to test in your AGP slot it will be difficult to tell for sure.

Inspect the card for burn marks on the pins, burnt smell and bloated capacitor. If card looks OK, clean the pins w/ a pencil eraser then test it in another PC. If it works, reinstall it in your PC but clean the AGP slot first w/ a small brush. Try reseating 3X before you lock the card on the slot. If still it does not work, something is wrong w/ the AGP slot of your board.
