I had that too, went to my doctor and she assured me it was just premenstrual and sure enough it was. I suggest go have it checked out! You never know, better safe than sorry.

I had something like this happen about 8 years ago and for me it turned out to be medication related.

I am no longer on the medication that caused that pain, but at the same time I was also dealing with a condition called costochondritis (an inflammation of the cartillage around the ribcage) which made things quite a challenge.

I would recommend having this checked out by your dr to see what they think could be causing this.

first off, the stabbing pain from a cracked nipple should only be felt when latching on and releasing. when the baby's actually feeding, it shouldn't hurt at all. if it does, then the baby's not latching on properly. check your baby's mouth: does she have a thick white coating on her tongue, looks like curdled milk? that's thrush - it could be in your nipple, too, and will cause a pretty much constant stabbing, piercing pain. nystatin will clear that up, as will gentian violet. if you have a fever, chills, or the shakes, you might have mastitis. if there is a reddened, painful lump in your breast, that could indicate a plugged duct. for both these conditions, see your doctor IMMEDIATELY. do not stop nursing - the milk is fine and nursing will help clear them up quickly (along with antibiotics).

Are they large? They could be growing again.

My girlfriend has a large bust and she went to the GP about stabbing pains.

The GP said try evening primrose oil. Give it a go!

Could be mastitis. If your boobs feel hot to the touch as well its a typical sign.

Get it checked out asap...coz it can be quite the painful experience.

good luck
