Well, the traditional route to become a Formula 1 driver would be to be born with great natural talent that you then start to hone at a young age in go karts and then moving on to middle level racing series by the time you are in you teens. From there your young age and success attract sponsorship money that then lead you to professional driving offers, and eventually to Formula 1.

Of course, the fact that you are asking this does tend to imply that you are probably not one of the 40 or so young drivers already at that level where you have offers to test for Formula 1 teams and are merely looking for a race seat! And as time travel to go back and coach your younger self onto a course to get you there is highly unlikely, there is really just one course.

First, you will need to take ALOT of driving lessions to begin to get ready to pursue the appropriate licensing to drive in Formula 1. This would be no small task unto itself! You will likely need to budget enough money to pay one or more former Formula 1 drivers to be personal coaches, along with purchases a one to two year old F1 chasis, renting track time, and hiring a support crew.

This part will obviously not be cheap, though if you work carefully, you may be able to keep this under $3 million. Which is a drop in the bucket compared to the next step... while you may now be qualified to drive in the race, you would not be a desirable option as a driver for anyone other than yourself. So, you would need to put yourself in a position to choose the driver... meaning you will need to purchase a Formula 1 team! There is a chance Spyker may be for sale, or you may simply be able to buy into an existing team as a managing partner? Though in either case, you will need at least a couple hundred million dollars to cover the purchase and initial operating costs you will incur.

At this point, you could install yourself as a driver... though you would not want to do this prior to the Singapore race, as you will most likely face a suspension of your racing license after your first race (for being so slow as to consitute a danger to the other drivers). Still, for but a few hundred million dollars and one year of work, you'll have managed to race in the Singapore Grand Prix!

As to the second part of the question, how to get sponsorship for the race? That one is really going to require time travel since you'll need to not only be an F1 driver, but a good one.

You first have to get a team that will sign you up. If a sponsor drive is what you're looking for, you might want to join several contests. Check out spyker's website... they are offering drives and tours for a certain fee.

To become an F1 driver, you must win a few national karts, GP2/AF3/F3 competitions worldwide before you turn 21.

You could possibly buy the Spyker team, but it will cost you in excess of $100 million. However, even if you are the owner, you'll need a Super License and to get one you'll ...
Of course this answer is about as far-fetched as your question.
Short and honest answer: You can't `drive in the F1 race next year in Singapore'; buy a ticket and watch it from a grandstand

invent years of dedicated carting and racing in other series, ie formula renault, GP2 etc, or impersonate one of the drivers and see if you get through security.
