A good comedy romance that was chick lit was Something Borrowed and the Sequel Something Blue by Emiliy Giffin. I dont usually read this genre but it was a book of the month for a book club I am in and I geatly enjoyed Something Borrowed so much I had to read the sequel Something Blue.
If you have a coupel authors you know you like ask your librarian for authors that are similar and they will usually be able to help you immensly.

Sometimes I will just browse and if I see something that looks interesting I will check it out. I read the blurbs to see if the book's subject and description interest me first. If the book is a dud for me, I stop reading it, and get others.
If they have a new book section in the library, you could check out books there. Or you could ask the librarian to recommend books to you (they are usually very knowledgeable about good authors).
Browsing is still the best way to get acquainted with authors, as you know best what kind of books you like. Recommended books might or might not appeal to you.

Here's what I do, I browse for books on amazon ... I find a book that I really liked, and that is similar to the type of read I'm looking for. Once I find the book that I've already read & enjoyed ... I look and see what other books people have bought ... & I check the lists that book appears on, to find other interesting stuff.
Once I have found a few good books that look good to me, I try to find those books at the library.
My library has a great website, I can search all the branches, and put books on hold. They also have lists of books, what's new, what's popular, etc etc. So, I never actually need to browse too much in the library itself, I get a phone call when my books come in, & I go and pick them up. It's amazing. I still look at the NEW shelf at the library, to see if anything catches my eye.
BOTTOMLINE: I go to the library, or library website generally with an idea of what I want - & I look at the new shelf.
***
Good luck.

Hmmm.... comedy, romance and fantasy you say? How about Katie MacAlister? Have you tried her books? They're probably billed as paranormal romance but they're hilariously funny. There are two series goin on which I truly love. One is about vampires or Dark Ones as she calls them. The other is about Dragons and Witches. Very good books and a laugh a minute riot.
You could also try Nora Roberts books, like the Three Sisters Island Trilogy. Romance and Fantasy. She's a prolific writer and she's dona a lot in that genre.
Jayne Ann Krentz is another author you should watch out for. She also writes under the pen names of Amanda Quick and Jayne Castle.
Mercedes Lackey's books are also pretty good. You could try her Fairy Godmother Series.
Michelle Sagara's "Cast In" books are good too.
Personally, I don't like Maria Snyder's books but people tell me they're really good. I cant vouch for them personally but you could give them a try.
Erin McCarthy's pretty good too in the paranormal funny romance department.
For just plain good romance you could try, Johanna Lindsey, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Karen Marie Moning, Karen Robards, Christine Feehan, Mary Balogh, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kinley MacGregor and a hundred other authors whom I cant think of right now.....

one of the first things I would do is list all the tv show types that I like. For ex. comedies; mysteries, true stories, dramas; ......
2) I would look for books that had the things I was interested in, for ex. hobbies, favorite authors, favorite subjects, how to books, etc.
" 3) Search in the librarys database for subjects/authors
4) the best book you will find will be one that you will enjoy more because it has something in it that interests you. : )
I'm not really a romance reader but I did love the James Heriot novels about his vet practice experiences in Europe. They had their funny parts. There was one story where a large dog used to like to sneak up on people passing by the propertys large stone fence. And another story of a pekinese called, Tricky Woo who called Jms Uncle + sent him xmas presents lol
"Herriot, James, All Creatures Great and Small (13-up). Memoirs of a vet in Northern England, full of humor and love of animals; first of a series." I highly recommend this author !!!

study the fast description of the storyline it relatively is in many circumstances discovered on the e book conceal flap, the two in back or in front whilst beginning the e book. the image is a "grab you" only like action picture posters, and only like them, ususally no longer indicative of what's interior. additionally, in case you're constantly going into a similar section (like historic previous, secret, romance, non secular, and so forth) then word that and avert those factors for a whilst because of the fact it must be that subject only would not spark your activity. you additionally can seek a libray's index of books via subject to help slender down the forms of books you're surfing by. in case you do no longer know how, ask the librarians, they're going to prepare you.

Ask the librarian for recommendations.
Most (not all) librarians know a lot about their collections. Most (not all) are great readers themselves. Most (not all) of them will be able to find books that are compatible with your taste and interest. Most (not all) will be delighted to help you.
