Its been a month. Portugal can be reached in a few hours. The twins- do they need some semblance of normality yet? Surely the Team can be based here, our International airports are excellent, with frequent flights out.

What do you think?

I think it is all very well them staying out there if they were actually doing something constructive about looking for Madeleine. However, they just seem to be sunbathing, running, sightseeing, meeting the Pope and spending less and less time with their other two children. As awful as it is, I really dont see how them staying out there is going to help find Madeleine. I do think they should come home and try and get some normality back into their childrens life. I dont think it is like giving up, but if they are not careful then they are going to give up on their twins too. I am afraid that the longer they stay out there without actually physically trying to look for her, the more people are going to think that they are just milking an extended holiday!

I am a mum of three and I know if one of them went missing abroad I know I wouldnt want to leave there without my child but how long can they possibly stay? They cannot stay there indefinitely. How can they possibly afford to? But I agree the twins need some sort of stability now. They should be getting back to a routine - around their own surroundings, family and friends. If there was any news or if they find Madeleine then they could be back in portugal within hours. I think they probably feel they are failing their daughter even more if they leave without her, but I am sure everything is being done to find her and the McCanns dont actually seem to be doing anything other than wandering about and waiting for news. Sadly I dont think they are going to find her. I hope I am wrong but times getting on now. She could be anywhere - if she's still alive.

I honestly feel - that since they have been travelling all over and not even staying in Portugal - that yes, they should go back to Britain and be with the people that can help them out the most - family and friends - rather than travelling around, spending the money of good hearted people and leaving their twins back in Portugal, a foreign land.

It must be awful going on holiday with three children and contemplating going home with only two of them. When do you ever decide the time is right to leave? They probably feel that to go home symbolises giving up and they are not ready to do this. I don't think they are scared of facing Social Services, as they go on TV everyday knowing that the world is judging them for leaving their children alone.

edit: I notice a lot of people speak as though they have the twins' best interest at heart and say that the McCanns should return home to give them normality. Then when they do spend the day taking the twins out they are slaughtered for this too. What is the correct way to behave in this situation, under the spotlight?

Hi Babysham,
I don't see that they can continue this sort of nomadic existence for any real length of time. It seems to serve no purpose and has certainly not helped to push the case forward. Maybe they know that once they stop this hectic existence they will have to face facts and deal with their grief. They will have to do that eventually because if they keep going the way they are they are highly likely to crack up completely which will not help them, the twins and certainly not poor Madeleine if she is ever found.

As a Mum, I can understand them not wanting to come home. You only have to look at your own children and it breaks your heart to think of leaving and coming home.

But, I agree. They have a responsibility to provide a stable and normal as possible life for the two children they still have. I think the twins will be ok for a while yet. They are young enough that they will have little concept of the time they have spent out there.

In time, they will have to make a decision to either settle their permanently or to return home.

Time to come home and give the other two children some sense of normality and structure! Unfortunately, media fatigue is now settling in and this media savvy pair should return home and face the music!

Hang on, they still have not yet finished their jetting about. !!
Afterall, still money in the Kitty.!
I am very sympathetic, & so sorry for the little girl, If its true.???.....
I'm afraid, I believe it has got completely out of control.
The McCanns have made a complete mockery of Peoples'
intelligence ?
They have sucked everybody into their problem ? Police, Politicians, Celebrities, & even the Pope .
There are so many flaws in their stories.'
I am sorry, but the blame lies entirely at Their Door.
If they were concerning parents, they would not have left their
children alone for 1 second. As a parent, I would never have considered such neglect.
No excuses Please ?....except they will only curtail their
extended holiday , when the cash runs out.?

i think that only they will know when it is the right time to move on. i'm sure that none of us understand the pain that they are going through right now. making the decision to come back home must be one of the most biggest things that they'll have to do. I'm sure that their faith is strong in the Lord and believe that she is safe . Only they'll know , after all they are medical profesionals and they know how to deal with sock and the grieving process. Life is not easy, the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh. We trust that Madie is safe and will come home with the rest of the family.
