...all with that eyeliner, eyebrows, black lips, eyecolor - all in dark colors, pierced nose, pierced lips,pierced tongue, so on...get the picture?
lol, no offense meant to our teeners here, i just want to ask the points of view of those who were born before the 90s!

If it were not then it never would have been but what it isnt is not to be in the future as it was in the past, or so they might or might not contemplate saying. But thats only true if it werent obvious to know that this statement were or were not for that matter a load of rubbish.
Sorry, i was just messing around.. seems like i was late to answer your question.. anyway.. Im not so much into emo loog or gothic. Im an 80's child & i love my mowhawk harstyle.. it takes a while to set but it gets me far, u know what I mean? I say let these kids dress & look how they want.. we never wanted anybody judging us, why should we now do it to them?

At least the emos are all black .Remember the big multicolored hair of the eighties?Now who will be more embarrassed..The 90s kid with some black dye and a little make up or the 80s kid with a rainbow colored mohawk,a" I love Motley Crue tattoo"and rings in their nose and a chain to pull attachted to it?I could go further,but I think I made my point.

Hey, in my day it was blue (or pink) hair shaved on the sides, spiked up ultra high with "stiff stuff"...cut up tee-shirts, lingerie, short poofy skirts and funky colored eye makeup a la Cyndi Lauper. We all have something. In 20 years, they will look back and laugh just like we do. Viva la '80s!
My 16 year old has already given up the "emo" look. Perhaps something new is on the horizon already. Even HotTopic stores have begun to remodel...losing the dark "cavish" storefront and adapting an ultra modern look. It will be coming soon to a mall near you. The biggest markets are slated to renovate this year.

i think the better question is "why would you want to voluntarily label yourself emo?"
"hey look at me, i am an unstable emotional wreck and I am FAR from being a well adjusted young adult who could function in the real world. don't trust me with information that may make me cry or lash out!"
Its silly because most of these kids aren't like that, in their head its an "ideal" and they are desperate to imitate that. But don't you dare mention that they all imitate each other, they will freak out!!!! hahaha
And no, I'm not an old out of touch woman. I'm 22 and I take pride in being emotionally stable, and wouldn't be caught dead claiming to be a "wreck"!

Goth evolved into emo. But emo is whinier, with richer parents, and the guys are a lot more feminine (that kid in Clerks 2 just annoys the **** outta me!). If emo is the hottest look among teenagers, then God help us all.

No, I would never want to look like I am still trying to be a teenager. However I do wear black eyeliner (I don't wear it thick) and I have my tongue pierced.

no i ware what i like and feel comfortable in as well as you should.i don't ware something for style i ware it cause it is updated and i like it on me. i mean don't go way out of style with these 1950 colors but you don't have to pierce yourself or trace your lips to look good these days either that is not only in style natural is also a very nice style which seems like you just might like.

never would i do such a thing i had a pierced lip when i was younger then everyone else started doing it so i stopped im not gonna wear make up i do like dark colors fits my mood sometimes

No. I have better things to do than to put on make up and fix my hair for more than 2 seconds.
I thought it was nice to be different than the jocks but once you have physical symbols to match the ideology, he ideology becomes worshipped instead of practiced in the mind.

OK it might be the in thing to look like a pale insipid, lifeless piece of trash, who rebels against authority as such, then again we did much the same in others ways when young.... so i guess horses for courses..LOL ♥
