was = the simpsons

is = family guy + south park

will be = the simpsons

simpsons has kinda lost its touch as its been going for so long the ideas are bound to dry up but theyre getting back to the best again, family guy seasons 1-3 were absolutly hilarious but have since became stale and unfunny imo and well south park is the funniest right now with wow ep and the 300 spoof...etc but has never been as funny as the other 2 when they were at there best, but i think the simpsons will get back to the best again especially with the new movie on the way, were as i think family guy will die off soon and south park will just stay second best to the simpsons

also futurama is as good as those shows its definitly better than the current season of family guy :)

They're all good, i used to watch the simpsons more as a kid, but as the seasons went on i found that they got less funny, whereas family guy is still making me laugh, family guy all the way!!

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Well, the Simpsons is a classic. I can't get enough.

South Park has hilarious political undertones and pop culture references.

Family Guy is dumb humor all the way but it works because it's just that funny.

Wow. I can't do it. I can't do it, man. I can't choose.

The Simpsons. You just can't beat Homer he constantly makes what would be visionary statements and turns them upside down IE : "I am so smart. S-M-R-T oooops I mean S.M.A.R.T." The show has also been around 15+ years for good reason. btw, a few other answers commented on Futurama...it was made by Matt G. as the Simpsons was and contains similar humor, but is more "with the times" ALA Family Guy and South Park.

South Park isn't bad but often has to resort to shock to get its humor...IE the homeless men invading South Park episode where the homeless were tricked into leaving from from another town and Cartman becomes "famous" for jumping over the homeless who are lying down. It's got its classic quotes IE "Kyle, we (have candy but) don't have any >>Jewish<< candy"...I have to laugh even though I'm Jewish...some of the celebrity skits IE Mel Gibson are funny as well also accurate stereotypes. From that to the 3rd graders cursing their heads off it's "very wrong", like Family Guy, which is what makes it funny.

Family guy, hard to say, more hip than funny really...think the evil monkey in Chris's closet (who was cheated on), Glenn Quagmire who's a stereotypical idiot around women, and the giant chicken (poking fun at Burger King). It's more like "hey...I've seen that before...man that's wrong (and I'm smart for knowing it)" than it is innovative. There are also good stints about celebrity and media stereotypes ALA Southpark but, again they rely on being "sign of the times"...many of the jokes and themes are quite similar...same problem "The Marx Brothers" had.

Simpsons is simply the smartest, most innovative, evolved, longest lasting of the three...every episode has a completely new (and fairly diverse) political/social theme to rat on. It doesn't win by being "with the times" but empathizing with the crazy mistakes we make in life (Carlos Mencia of "Mind of Mencia" is good, though perhaps not as good, at this).
