Why?, because eggs are most often associated with breakfast and chicken is not. I know it depends on where you live, but that's generally speaking of course.
Oh yes, roosters/chickens are the ones making the noise first thing in the morning.

I would love to say it's chicken who laid the egg, but then I think it has to be the egg who hatched into a chicken. But then where was the first chicken really came from?

If you follow theory of evolution than egg (not necessarily chicken egg). And if you insist on chicken egg, than again egg was first.
If you follow theory of God creating all world than chicken.
