ALLOY = solution of a solid dissolved in a solid (melted then cooled together). Not always two metals - remember Carbon in steel. Solid - solid

AMALGAM = a solid metal dissolved in mercury liquid to form a solid alloy/amalgam. liquid - solid

LIQUID STATE SOLUTIONS - lots of examples -
e.g.1 salt dissolved in water
e.g.2 ethanol dissolves in water and vice-versa in all proportions to form a solution
e.g.3 hydrogen chloride gas dissolved in water forms hydrochloric acid
e.g.4 ammonia gas dissolved in water forms ammonia solution

So all of the above, plus liquid - liquid
