...sorta feel the same about Quentin; the kind of filmmaker you hate to love, but love to hate!!!
Being an aspiring writer and filmmaker myself, I am MORE than a little miffed about the fact that there are writers and filmmakers out there, who have sweated, honed and disciplined their talent in the classroom, drinking in the literary and stylish expertise historically and cinematically set forth by master filmmakers of the past hundred-plus years; yet Tarantino, the lucky and naturally talented S.O.B., was writing screenplays in a homwtown video store, with hardly any inkling of cinematically educational background, and happened to know the right people, find the right open doors.....and the rest is history!!!
Ironically, there is college curriculum that directly expounds the filmmaking style of Tarantino; there are also filmmakers, who HAVE wretched through the educational gauntlet, have gone on to become seasoned filmmakers, and yet have produced, written and/or directed films, emulating Tarantino's unique stylings and pop culture tendancies (Go Figure!!!).
Funny...that hasn't stopped me from forking over my hard-earned dineros, to see his films; point in case, I have clocked in six viewings of "Grindhouse", so far!! Glutton for punishment, I suppose.....
...speaking of "Grindhouse", I think he cheated his audiences, with his segment, "Deathproof"; although a great piece of work, once again turning a classic genre on it's ear, the film plays much more like a gearhead drive-in theatre type movie, rather than a dingy, grimy grind-house theatre type film, which was supposed to be the general spirit of the film. Oh, and where the heck was HIS faux movie trailer entry???
...you're slakin', Quentin!!!!!

just because he looks like a bit ch to you does not mean you should hate him, you can't always judge people just by their looks. You can, after you meet the man in person and actually have an idea of what the man is like.
