How far will we allow our government to go? Will we continue to give away our freedoms and trust that it is in our best interest?
The word peril comes to mind. Our uncertainty is so great I feel like I am in a movie called 1984. God help us all, if we don't make a stand sooner than later.

Shall we wait until our freedoms are basically gone . Wait I thing we are there. O I see the illusion is strong and you are all blind.

Unfortunately I believe it will get much worse before it gets better. There are still 28 % of Americans who think George Bush is doing a good job.

I am afraid not. It appears to me that we are the corrupt system, blinded by money. The poor the rich, both wanting more and willing to do what ever it takes to get it. Those who get it illegally and those who work themselves to death to get it. I appears to me that there are people who believe that it's easier to go with the flow, or those who don't care one way or the other and then of course those who don't understand that when they agree or disagree on a Government issue that there is much more to it then what it states up front. I stated in a previous question that I can remember when I was a little girl my dad would take me to the neighbourhood bar with him and all I can remember is the men would sit there and complain about the Government, yet do nothing to change it. I still hear the same complaints today only the people are different who are doing the complaining. I agree that God needs to help us. We need discernment and boldness. Then we must seek the knowledge of the truth, wisdom to learn the truth, and the ability act upon it in a way that is constructive and not destructive.

I'm not sure "we" have "entrusted" a "corrupt" system without freedoms; but I am sure we, the American people, have placed out faith in a system that no longer values or cares about family or community, or the precepts that America was founded upon.

America, like many other countries, accepted those from countries that had such adverse cultures, expecting them to acclimate: Many did; but, many did not. America gave these people "rights" The "right" to an education, to attend our public schools, receive all education benefits given to "legal" citizens, just to achieve a "daily" attendance quota, and be eligible for state and Federal governments money.

"We", the American people, are accountable for "giving" power to the "government". Short of a "revolution":, the American people will never be able to make any changes in our present government structure. The "average" American citizen will be subject to the law proscribed by the Supreme Court, whose members are appointed, for life, by the reigning President of the United States.

The American system of justice revolves around attorneys dedicated to winning. They don't care whether justice prevails; they just want to win.

The political elite and the corporations are in charge of your freedom now, Its no longer for the people or by the people. Notice how they are so accomodating to the Mexicans.... Its part of the plan to destroy the middle class, Import illegal aliens for cheap labor and export decent paying jobs to asia. The Corporations will be in charge along with the politicians in there pocket, God help our children.

Matt H, I really hope you're wrong but I don't know that any of us know how to change the system we're all implicated within anymore. I think it's up to us, as citizens, to determine the means to change the system - otherwise it's fascism on our own soil. That's a much larger threat than fundamentalism of any stripe, as far as I can tell.

I believe we can take the power back from the present corrupt system and entrust it to a less corrupt one. For as long as there is politics, there is corruption. That is just reality whether we like it or not.

I hate to tell you this but George Bush Jr. has opened Pandora's Box and it will almost be impossible to close. Even if the next President repeal the Patriot Act it has set precedent to the level to which our government can go to infringe on our constitutional rights.

Oh my mistake, I thought I'd come to a place where people asked questions in the hopes of getting answers, not used question marks at the end of political grandiose statements that have no basis in fact.

At any rate, we'll "take the power back", when more citizens, ala David Koresh, are being murdered in their homes from warrantless forced entries into their homes, and we're forced into a socialist style regime whereupon the United States is forced to "share the responsibility" and "share the wealth". When this nation takes too far a step from its individualist foundation and finds itself peeking its head through a socially based society, then we'll start taking the power back.

we haven't lost the power YET! All we need to do as a nation is vote. we need to measure the people running for president or any other office. NOT the party. The longer people are in office the more they think the know what is best for the people. Look at you representative, your senator. Are they doing what you really think is good for AMERICA? If not, replace them.

fear not, soon enough everybody shall see the corrupt system and figure out how to have a better government. but right now we are too dependent to this systems that if we remove it it shall cause chaos because the people who overthrew it shall only replace it.
