His will be a unique case that tests how the voter weigh short term production vs career numbers. He didnt' start in the ML until he was 28 years old. He will not be able to reach the traditional career bench mark for a hitter of his type - 3,000 hits, untill he plays at his past level until he is 40. He might be able to do that. We'll see. He might still be elected if he ends up with 2500 hits but a .330 average.

This is his 7th season as a player, so he needs at least 3 more to even qualify. I imagine he'll play the required minimum of 10 years. And if he does and continues to play near the level he's already established, seems pretty certain he'll get inducted.
It's important to remember that the Hall of Fame is for American baseball, so Ichiro's Japanese career (unfortunately) doesn't count as a deciding factor.

i think of Ichiro Suzuki merits a gap in the two the eastern Baseball hall of recognition and the yank Baseball hall of recognition. He placed up maximum suitable numbers in Japan in the previous he got here to united states of america.

Hands down he makes it. Ichiro can never be considered in the same categories as players like Ricky Henderson and Tony Gwynn though. He's split his career in Japan and in the States. That isn't a knock on Ichiro at all. It just means that he is especially unique when you consider most Hall of Fame players.

there is no doubt that ichiro will be in the hall of fam and on the first ballott. if you combine his japanese and big league stats he is in the same company as ty cobb, joe dimaggio, all the greats. he is a god in japan and is considered along with sudaharo oh to be the greatest of all time in that country. just his big league stats are incredible for the amount of time he has been in the league. and he just ended a 25 game hitting streak he is truley one of the greats to ever play the game.

i think he will be in the hall. he holds the record for most hits in a season. and he averages more than 200 hits a year. that's pretty damn good.
