For leading him...A led bull should always be restrained by a halter around his head, then the lead rope fed through the ring. So the ring is just for added control and not the total restraint. If the bull has horns (which are an added danger) the lead rope can go around those, then down through his nose ring.

No it isnt so the female cows think he is cool , it is through the bridge gristle between the nose , which contains nerve endings on the nose of the bull which is very sensitive to pain , the farmer will hook a lead onto this , because the bull will not risk to much pain and pull back and stuff around

They use the ring to control the bull. The nose is a sensitive area and when pulling the ring the bull obeys the command of whomever is pulling. Works the same way as a bride with a horse.

Don't you know its a fad, all the young bulls are getting their noses pierced now.

I believe it is actually for leading purposes, tie a rope to it and lead them along

Yep. You take a rope with a clip on the end, clip it to the ring, lead the bull where you want it to go.

Unfortunately, it is to keep them in check, it is the most sensitive part on a bull so they can take them by that ring and lead them by it.
(I think)

im not sure but i think it was for the farmer to grab them by the nose ring and take them to wherever they need the bull to go.
