Damn you are stupid, you are not supposed to try to put the vehicle in reverse while moving forward. What are you wanting to do, buy you a new transmission???

OH MY GOD its a car it goes forward if its in forward and backward if its in reverse but it cant change between the two with out major damage that grinding isn't just a noise that is metal teeth bashing into each other causing minute pieces of steel to filter into your engine oil or transmission oil if its an auto. your car can go from reverse to forwards but that isn't to say that you should do it with out stopping I can hit my finger with a hammer but I know better its just not good. the reason you can go from a rolling reverse to a powered forward is your clutch it will suffer from wear if you do this often . Very pricey,

you are not supposed to change into reverse while going 5 mph forward...transmission isnt built for that...it messes up the gears and you might have to replace the gears if you keep doing that...if you go about 1 or 2 mph forward you can go into reverse....

Your not stupid.

This is rule with any transmission, Auto OR Manuel...

The car must or "should" be at a complete stop. {period} before changing into any different gear. {period}

some cars you may find do not "grind" while still rolling, and others will.

I say just don't change gears while still rolling. {period}

Best wishes,

you should shrink to rubble the gears interior the rear end, transmission, and or the motor. undesirable element. you're fortunate and not something take place. yet i'm effective it bent a kit in some sort of way. value an incredible sort of money. wish this helped.

Most manual transmissions don't have a synchronized reverse gear.

you are not supposed to do so... its a safety precaution thats built in to the transmission, if you do so going too fast it will ruin the gears.... its best to be at a complete stop
