i filled up yesterday, and a light came on that said 'O/D OFF'
now that light went away, and the check engine light came on, and stayed on for a while, then started blinking
it may have something to do with the gas cap but i dont kno, i checked the oil, and radiator fluid, engine sounds and runs fine, it may be something else minor,
help me if you have had this problem b4, or just have an idea of what may be wrong, please

The check engine light coming on after you get gas is a common occurrence, because the fuel system is a closed system if you don't put the gas cap on right the system will not pressurize correctly and the check engine light will come on. But there are other things that can cause the light to come on, like a bad sensor. But make sure the gas cap is on tight and proper, and if the check engine light goes out you should be fine.
Why the "O/D off" light came on I am not sure, O/D should stand for "Over Drive" on an automatic transmission, usually toggled on/off by a switch on the shifter.

Try having it hooked up to a computer at a Mazda dealership. You could go to most mechanics shops to have that done too since dealerships can be pricey, but a computer will read to give you an immediate list of what is wrong. A trusted place would be best so you don't get conned into fixing something that isn't broken because sometimes those lights go on for nothing, but checking into it is not a bad idea. The car is now ten years old and even though foreign cars tend to run better it is getting older, and it is better to be safe and get it looked at early instead of waiting for the problem to go until it breaks down. That could cause damage to the motor and more money in the long run.

That happened to me while I was driving up in the hills down a bumpy road. O/D came on and started flashing, and then the check engine light came on. A few days later I disconnected the battery and the check engine light turned off, but then it came back on a few days later. About 1 week after that the car's Rpm's were going bazerko. I took it to the mechanic and he told me that the tranny was shot. He showed me the transmission fluid and it was filthy dirty. Basically I didnt keep up with the transmission maintenance by doing my transmission service. But it could be some different issue. My girlfriend's car had that light come on and once I changed the spark plugs with premium ones the light went away. But if I were you I would go get an engine diagnostic. Good luck.

Go to local part store, auto service garage, or take it to dealership to have them check your computer management system usually it just on of the sensor in the car.

Dont just add MORE oil, but change it. If the light is still on bring it to a mechanic to get checked out. Try to find a mechanic you can trust.

take it to a local Auto Zone and they will scan it for free, and let you know what it is.
