I started my first tank with these two, and still use both:

The first is very useful for a beginner and has lots of checklists and step-by-step instructions and is very easy to read. The second has buch of the same info, but doesn't use the checklist format, but it has more extensive info on fish. The second book's author has a website with articles and a forum. You can check out some of his information on that site:http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ The articles are just that, the FAQs are questions with answers from the forum organized by topics.
