Yes, it's idiotic. "Designer breeds" are one of the worst things to happen to dogs since they were domesticated. No one who breeds mutts and gives them a fake name and/or calls them "hypoallergenic" is doing it for the betterment of the breed, they're only in it for the money. The crazy backyard breeders who are producing these "poos" are most likely overbreeding and mistreating their animals, not to mention contributing to the 3 million dogs and cats that die in shelters every year in the US. Oh yeah, and they're also not paying taxes on the cash they make taking advantage of their animals, while the rest of us poor schmucks actually have to work for a living and pay Uncle Sam.

i completely agree! it's a mutt, you don't know what you will get, but people hear labradoodle or whatever and they think they will all be the same. nope, it's a mutt and one pup can be like mom and an other like dad and a third a mix of the 2. i do understand that the only way to get new breeds is to mix 2 other breeds together, but it doesn't happen from one mix. there's no standard, nothing after one mix.
sorry if that doesn't make sence, it's late lol

Yes, Yes, Yes......they aren't recognized by AKC, hello......I agree, breeders should be paying taxes and regulated by the gov. because they are contributing to the problem of over pet population.....what is wrong with adopting a pet....my past 4 dogs were shelter dogs.........or what about the idiots that buy a dog and get disinterested in it and try reselling them by placing an ad....oh I so love getting a chuckle on the moron that places and add like 8 mo old Lab paid 800 but will sell for 200......people should be charged more than a nominal fee to drop off a dog at a shelter, they should be charged with neglect.....these may not be humans, but they are living, breathing creatures and deserve to be treated properly not because they get bored or too lazy to care for them once they are no longer puppies.....

Of course. But people are always looking for an easy fix, and it's soooooo much easier to shell out $900 for the coc-a-poop with the goopy eyes and worms at the pet store than do a bit of *le gasp* research and get the same damn thing 15 minutes down the road at the friggin shelter for a fraction of the price and actually healthy.

Let's see - most of the people in the U.S. come from multi national backgrounds, but most people won't hesitate to pay muchos money to adopt any child from any race mixture and with more love than you can imagine.
I believe people love their animals as much as (well, at least some of them do) their children, so why would they hesitate to spend a lot on their mixed breed dogs? Stupid? A matter of opinion.

People are easily led, and believe whatever they are told... "but the breeder said it doesn't shed" "the breeder said that Cocka-shon's don't mat" " it says xyz on the website, you can look it up" and on.. and on.. These same mixes are available in just about every shelter in the country... Stupid? In my opinion, yes. More importantly the deliberate breeding of mixes without the attempt to create an actual breed is the height of irresponsibility and ignorance... my 2 cents on one of my "soap box" topics :)

it's idiotic.. yes, I'm sure they make great pets.. but that is true of any breed or mix.. they can all make great pets.. We don't need to make special mixed breeds when they can be found at any rescue or shelter in the nation..
