Talk about any movie sequel. Go ahead. You'll find that, even though it's epic and beautifully done, a large base of people decide that they dislike it.

Pirates of the Caribbean 3
Spiderman 3
Matrix 2 and 3

Those are just a few examples off the top of my head.

Now, why can't people actually enjoy such great movies and stop picking out their flaws?

A lot of sequels don't live up to the original movie's standard. Spiderman 2 and Spiderman 3 visually looked great, but fighting without his mask for large portions of the movie and dancing around in the street in Spiderman 2 and strutting down the street making weird motions in Spiderman 3 are just the beginning of what ruined those movies. As far as the Pirates movies, to me it seemed like the acting was terrible by Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom in the second and third movie. Also, I hate when a movie basically ends with to be continued like the second movie did. The third movie also had a lot of plot holes. I think a big part of the disappointment in these sequels is also that they don't live up to the hype. There are some great movie sequels out there though. Check out 28 Days Later, then check out 28 Weeks Later (currently in theaters).

The only reason sequels are made is to make more money than the original. With the exception of a couple of good movies made in the last 10 years the rest are appalling .They are dressed up B class movies aimed at the young audience who enjoy this type of movie and advertising them somehow ensures their success. Most of them have a short cinema run before going to video.
