Do you really think her behaviors are that different than most other 20 year olds? When I was living on a college campus it sure didn't seem that way and I even had good parents. So what's the big deal? Why is this at all interesting instead of expected?
Britney Spears going crazy was amusing, but some actress acting her age? Come on. The only amusing part is that people read it up like it's not happening with the 20 year old pre-med student at the local uni.

She is a celebrity...plain and simple. It's like when they show pictures of celebrities picking up their dry cleaning or going grocery shopping. Everyone does it but since they are famous it's going to be in magazines.

I think this is different because she is a celebrity. Since she is in rehab, I would have to say that her drunken behavior and drug use are beyond the norm. This is her second time in rehab. Somebody is obviously concerned. Lindsay was once a sweet wholesome child star and role model. Her behavior is not just an act of rebellion. With all of her publicized family problems, I think she might have some serious problems. There is an endless list of child stars that have become serious alcohol and drug abusers. Anyways, it is newsworthy because she is a young and popular celebrity. When you are in the spotlight, everything you do is under public scrutiny.

One reason these Hollywood brats are always in the news I believe, is that these "celebrities" are the spoiled rich and famous and always seem to get away with this unacceptable social behavior...doing drugs, breaking laws...never having to pay a penalty like you or I might have to, until now.
While being admired for their acting/singing talents (don't know where Paris Hilton fits in here) along with the great wealth that places them in notoriety above the average person and has allowed them these privileges enabling them to get away with breaking the law with little or no resulting penalty, there has been such a ground swell of criticism toward the Hollywood community that law enforcement and judges are being pressured and finding it necessary to assure the public that these "prima donnas" are going to be treated just like anyone else when it comes time to hand down judgements and sentences for misbehavior.
The opinions regarding Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and others that have been given jail-time are in favor of seeing them go do their time and prove once and for all that they are just regular people when it comes to obeying the law, just like you and me...and the public loves it.
Just wait until this Tuesday...you'll be seeing plenty about Paris Hilton turning herself in to start her 23-day sentence...the media attention is going to be unlike anything we've seen for quite a while, including Lindsay Lohan's recent escapades.
UPDATE: forget Tuesday, Paris has already reported to jail right after the MTV Awards show Sunday night and of course, it's all over the news.

Lohan is just one of many who seek fame, find fame and meltdown because they can't handle fame. She's not alone; many before her befell tragic and fatal fates from DNA (Drugs N Alcohol). Doesn't matter what sex you are, what your sexuality is, what race you are or even how old you are, for that matter.
Bottom line: Winners get out of fame when they know it's time to; losers fight it, push on and push themselves out of living.
Lohan and Britney both need to just give it up and mosey on--before they die holding onto fame they can't handle.

No, in a sense she's actually taking a step to be better by going to rehab. While most "normal" people in their 20's keep killing themselves by being alcoholics and not seeking help.

the answer is simple... theyre celebrities...and people that admire them somehow want to be like them...they're a big impact on other people...they should have think before they act...but the thing is... they're also human...they want to be normal like us... i bet some point in their life..they wish to be like us normal people...
