There are several stories about three witches. One is Shakespeare's Macbeth, there are several modern stories taken from that premise. There is, however, mention three "witches" in several different mythologies. For example the three Fates in Greek and Roman mythology Representing the past present and future. Or in the Celtic and Norse mythology the maiden mother and crone. representing the course of life. In the Norse mythology they are called Norns. I'm not as familiar with the actual names of them in the Celtic mythology. There are several other examples though out the mythological and spiritual world.
